4 Essential Health Goals to Set for the New Year

2023 is here! Kick the year off right by taking care of your mental, emotional, and physical health. Here are 4 things you can do:

Smile:

Smiling is scientifically proven to boost your happiness. According to researchThe mere act of smiling reduces blood pressure, lowers stress hormones, and boosts your mood; a British study even found that one smile generates the same level of brain stimulation as up to 2,000 bars of chocolate.”  This means that even if you’re having a rough time, something as simple as a smile can help you feel much better!

Identify your support system:

One of the most important things you can do for your health is know who you can lean on. Whether it’s a cousin, a friend, or even a team of professionals (like the FRPC!) your mental, emotional, and physical health benefits from having others around you for support. If you or someone you know needs pregnancy or parenting support, the FRPC can serve you and can help you identify others in your life you can count on.

Know your worth:

You matter, and your worth is not defined by your circumstances or the way others treat you. Make sure you hold your head high and remember that you have value, just for being you.

Ditch unhealthy relationships:

While healthy relationships are important for your health, an unhealthy relationship has the opposite effect. This year, make it a goal to get away from any toxic or abusive relationships. You deserve better, and so does your health! Of course, if you need help talking through these relationships or pinpointing problems, the FRPC can help, along with other organizations we partner with.

Remember, as always, we are here to help. If you or someone you know struggles with an unexpected pregnancy in the new year, we are here for you!
